Site control
Choose where Duet Translate runs, which sites translate on their own, and where its buttons appear.
Where the extension runs
In Preferences → Extension activation, choose a mode:
- Only disable on listed sites (the default): Duet Translate runs everywhere except the sites you list.
- Only run on listed sites: it runs only on the sites you list.
The popup’s Disable extension on this site or Enable extension on this site adds the current site to the list.
Sites that translate on their own
In Page Translation → Translation control:
- Auto translate based on website: sites that translate as soon as they open. Always translate this site in the popup adds the current one.
- Never auto translate based on website: sites that never translate on their own.
Where the buttons appear
- Floating Button → Disabled sites: sites without the floating button. Its menu also has Disable for this site and Disable globally.
- Selection Toolbar → Disabled sites: sites where selecting text shows no toolbar. The × on the toolbar does the same.
URL patterns
Every site list takes the same kind of pattern:
| Pattern | Matches |
|---|---|
example.com |
That site |
*.example.com |
example.com and its subdomains |
example.com/blog/* |
Only that part of the site |
Site rules
Some sites need special handling, such as content to skip or a different main area. Duet Translate ships with built-in rules for those, listed under Advanced → Site rules. If a rule causes trouble on a site, turn it off there.
You can also write your own rules as a JSON array under User Rules; they take precedence over the built-in ones. This is for advanced users; the editor checks each rule as you type.
