Terms of Service
Last updated October 29, 2026
These terms apply when you use the Duet Translate browser extension, this website or the service behind them ("Duet Translate", "we"). By using them you agree to these terms.
Your account
You sign in with a Google account. Keep it secure; you're responsible for what happens under your account. One account is for one person.
Plans and payment
- Free accounts get built-in AI translation with a daily allowance.
- Pro costs $6.90 a month or $69 a year, plus any tax that applies, charged in US dollars through Stripe.
- Subscriptions renew automatically at the end of each period until you cancel. Cancel any time from your account page; Pro stays on until the end of the period you've paid for.
- Payments aren't refunded for partial periods, except where the law where you live requires it. If something went wrong with a charge, email us and we'll sort it out.
- We may change prices. Changes apply from your next renewal, and we'll email you at least 14 days before.
Allowances and fair use
Each plan includes a built-in AI allowance and rate limits, shown in the extension. They're there so the service stays fast and affordable for everyone. Don't try to get around them, for example with automated scripts, shared accounts or resold access. We may suspend accounts that do.
Acceptable use
Don't use Duet Translate to break the law, infringe others' rights, attack or overload our systems, or translate content you don't have the right to use. You're responsible for the text you send for translation.
Translations
Translations are produced automatically by AI and other services and can be wrong. Don't rely on them where a mistake could cause harm, such as legal, medical or safety matters, without checking with a qualified person.
Third-party services
If you use your own API key or a free translation service, your use of that service is under its own terms, and any charges it makes are between you and it.
Open source
The extension is free software under the GNU General Public License v3.0, based on Read Frog. Its source is at github.com/iannoying/duet-translate-extension. The GPL, not these terms, governs your rights to the extension's code. These terms cover the hosted service and your account.
Ending your account
You can stop using Duet Translate and ask us to delete your account at any time. We may suspend or close an account that breaks these terms; if we close a paid account for reasons other than a breach, we'll refund the unused part of the period.
No warranty
Duet Translate is provided "as is". We work to keep it running and accurate but don't promise it will always be available or error-free.
Limit of liability
To the extent the law allows, we aren't liable for indirect or consequential losses, and our total liability to you is limited to what you paid us in the 12 months before the claim. Nothing here limits rights you have under consumer protection law.
Changes to these terms
We'll update the date above when these terms change, and give notice by email or in the extension for significant changes before they apply.
