What Duet Translate is

A browser extension that puts the translation right under the original, on web pages and in video subtitles.

Duet Translate (懂你翻译) translates what you read and watch without taking the original away. Each paragraph of a page gets its translation underneath, and videos on YouTube, Netflix and X get a second line of subtitles in your language. You read in the language you’re learning and glance down only when you need to.

What it does

  • Page translation: translate a whole page in one click, bilingual or translation only, or just the paragraph under your pointer.
  • Video subtitles: original and translated subtitles together, in sync with the video.
  • Selection translation: select a word or sentence and read its translation and meaning beside it.
  • Input translation: write in your own language in any text box and send it in the other one.
  • Custom AI actions: your own prompts as buttons, such as a dictionary, a grammar explainer or a polite rewrite.
  • Read aloud: hear any selection in a natural voice.

Who does the translating

You choose. Sign in and use the built-in AI with no setup, add an API key from one of more than 20 AI services, run a model on your own computer with Ollama, or use Google and Microsoft’s free translation. See AI providers.

Start here

  1. Install the extension and pin it to your toolbar.
  2. Pick your target language and a provider.
  3. Open any article and press Alt + E to translate it.

Then read on about page translation, or set up shortcuts and site control the way you like.
