Install the extension

Add Duet Translate to Chrome, Edge or another Chromium browser and get it ready in a minute.

Supported browsers

Duet Translate runs in Google Chrome and in other browsers that install extensions from the Chrome Web Store, such as Microsoft Edge, Brave, Arc and Opera.

Install

  1. Open Duet Translate on the Chrome Web Store. The Install button on duettranslate.com takes you there.
  2. Click Add to Chrome, then Add extension.
  3. A setup page opens. It walks you through the next steps.

Edge asks you to allow extensions from other stores the first time. Click Allow, then Add to Chrome.

Pin it to your toolbar

Click the puzzle-piece icon next to the address bar, then the pin next to Duet Translate. Its icon stays in the toolbar, and a click opens the popup where you translate the page, switch modes and change languages.

Choose your languages

In the popup, set:

  • Target language: the language you read best. Pages and subtitles are translated into it.
  • Source language: leave it on Auto-detect unless pages are often detected wrongly.

Choose who translates

Duet Translate needs a translation provider before it can translate.

  • Built-in AI: sign in with your Google account. Free accounts use it for custom AI actions; Pro and Max use it for everything.
  • Free translation: Google and Microsoft translation work without an account or a key.
  • Your own API key: add one on the API Providers page in the settings. See AI providers.

Try it

Open an article in another language and press Alt + E, or click Translate in the popup. Press the shortcut again to go back to the original.

Update and uninstall

Chrome updates extensions on its own. To remove Duet Translate, right-click its icon and choose Remove from Chrome. Your settings stay in the browser unless you remove them, so export them first if you want to keep them (config and backup).
